Rock physical properties of core samples are measured to know the characteristics of each geological Formation. The properties measured are the following: A) density, B) porosity, C) permeability, D) elastic wave velocity, E) resistivity, F) specific heat, G) thermal conductivity, H) magnetic susceptibility.

West JEC uses the results of these measurements for the following purposes.

     
        A) density:Processing of gravity data
                   Construction of the numerical model for reservoir simulation
        B) porosity:Construction of the numerical model for reservoir simulation
        C) permeability:Construction of the numerical model for reservoir simulation
        E) resistivity:Processing of electric and electromagnetic prospection data
                       Construction of the numerical model for reservoir simulation
        F) specific heat:Construction of the numerical model for reservoir simulation
        G) thermal conductivity:Construction of the numerical model for reservoir simulation
      

Additional knowledge of the characteristic of geological formations is obtained from the comparison and correlation of rock physical properties, the geological column and results of borehole surveys.
