The objective of the rehabilitation and improvement of Thermal Power Plant "Kakanj" is to:

• Improve reliability of Unit 5,
• Improve reliability of the water treatment/cooling water plant as common facilities,
• Improve performance and reliability of Unit 7, and
• Mitigate environmental impact by reducing emission of dust and NOx from Unit 7

This project is financed by JBIC ODA Loan covers this project and four coal mines, as a part of the larger project co-financed by JBIC and the World Bank which aims to rehabilitate four thermal power plants, four coal mines, five hydroelectric plants and transmission and distribution lines.
