PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Aiming
at improving of living and promotion of industrial development in
the Mekong Delta, a construction project for a power plant in Can
Tho, the central city of the delta, and accompanying transmission
lines was planned. From November 1970 to March 1971, WEST JEC conducted
a feasibility study sponsored by OTCA (JICAfs antecedents).
Obtaining
a loan from Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (OECF) of Japan,
VPC started the construction project of Can Tho Oil-fired Thermal
Power Plant, related transmission lines, five substations and communication
system. WEST JEC provided engineering services for the project.
